Different Types of Animals Which Can be Reared as Pets

A pet is a household animal kept by human beings for pleasure and as a source of companion. There are many species of different animals, but only few are kept long enough. And those are considered as domestic animals. Some kinds of animals which can be considered as domestic animals or pets are:

Mammals: Mammals include the following:

Cats - Cats are carnivorous mammals and are most popular pets in the world. They have flexible body, quick reflexes and sharp teeth to kill small prey. They have the ability to listen and see in darkness to catch prey.

Goats - Goats are domestic animals used to provide milk and meat. Farmers also use their skin, bones and sinew for clothing and building tools.

Sheep - Sheep are important for giving wool, meat, milk and agricultural purpose.

Fishes: Fishes are the pets which can be easily handled. When taken out from natural water body and domesticated at home, they are required to constantly kept in aquariums. These fishes live with the help of water and oxygen, which are to be constantly provided in the aquarium.

Reptiles: Some of the pet reptiles include tortoises, snakes, lizards and turtles.

Amphibians: Some of them are frogs, salamanders. They need to be wet because they diffuse oxygen from their damp skin and hence require water to survive.

Exotic Mammals: Some of them are arctic foxes, mongoose, deer, squirrel monkeys, cheetah, leopard, lion.
