How to handle your rabbit?

People keeping rabbits as pets in their homes should know the basic information about how to handle your rabbit because rabbits are physically delicate and fragile, and require specialized veterinary care. If you fail to pick the rabbit, the rabbit becomes panicked and can kick you forcefully with their hind legs and scratch with their claws, or bite. So, it is important to handle your rabbit carefully.

Below are some useful tips while handling the rabbits:
  • First gently rub your hand on the head of your rabbit and then pick up your rabbit by supporting his forelegs with one hand and his hind legs with the other hand otherwise it can result in spinal injuries to the rabbit.
  • Rabbits are very sensitive in nature so don't pick up your rabbit by its ears because this can cause very serious injury.
  • You can keep your rabbits coat in good condition by brushing your rabbits hair regularly with a soft brush to remove excess hair. And also take your rabbit to the veterinarian to clip the rabbit’s nails.
  • Never try to keep your rabbits with other animals in your home. This will result injuries to your rabbit. You should always keep an eye on the pet so that you can know the behavior of your rabbit.
  • Immediately contact your veterinarian who is expert in treating rabbits whenever your rabbit stops eating for a long time or has watery discharge.
  • Don't hold your rabbit for too long as the rabbits don't want to be touched by the big creatures and they do not feel comfortable.
This way, if you handle your rabbit, it will become your friend and be acquainted with you.

How to Keep Your Pet Calm During Travel?

A long travel by car or plane is irritating for us. However, it is even more disturbing for your pets. So, know necessary tips to make your pet calm during travel so that you as well as your pet enjoy the travel and vacations.

Whether traveling by car, plane or train, a pet carrier is essential. Allow your pet to be in the carrier. However, it may initially get frightened to get into it. Train your pet from several weeks before the travel time to get it used to the carrier. Though you had trained it, while traveling, the pet may get feared even in carrier. So, ensure that you always talk to it softly during travel. Hearing your voice makes it feel calm and comfortable. Pet the animal through the small openings of the crate or carrier. Often soothing the pet makes the travel pleasant for your pet.

Also, keep the favorite and familiar toys in the crate or carrier so that your pets engaged in playing with them and also get used to the crate. Make sure that you choose only the regular products which the pet uses. For instance, prefer the same brand of food, the same brand of treats, the same cat litter, etc. Make your pet feel more secured during travel. When you are traveling by car, as much as possible, avoid loud noises, sharp turns or going over bumps at a fast speed. The pet gets a little nervous and jumpy by traveling if it faces these experiences, then it is sure that you have to face a lot of trouble throughout your travel and vacation. Also be calm yourself. Pets follow their masters and hence, if you stay relaxed, the pet too relaxes bringing you much peace. Never neglect these things when traveling. Otherwise, your happy and enjoyable travel plan may turn disappointing.
